New here so first post new to L322 ownership pick up a 2008 Vogue SE TDV8

First question of many should the tail gate lift by its self when open button pushed

second question parking sensors when reversing dont seem to work but the button on the dash flashes Fault ?? and the reversing cam screen stays on once out of reverse have to push back button to close it

Tailgate is not automatic. Just unlatches off the button.

Needs diagnostics to identify the parking sensor fault. Reversing camera issue could be CANbus related, wiring, all sorts. Diagnostics again may help diagnose. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.

would a diagnostics tool help diagnose the reversing problem thinking of the gap IID as sure it will be worth the investment as not going to be my first fault

Very likely the struts have lost pressure. They are cheap from aftermarket sources and quite easy to replace. The hardest part is holding the tailgate open while replacing. Get an assistant or a length of wood.

You have to lift it but it should not take much effort and as others have said the struts are cheap and easy to fit. Also check the bonnet struts. A flashing fault on the parking sensor system generally means a wiring fault on the sensor which is due to their terrible design. A GAP IID tool will tell you which one it is. A fix requires removal of the bumper so hope it's a rear sensor as the front bumper is a PITA to remove. The rear cam does stay on for a bit once drive is engaged but should go off eventually 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
