Removing wing mirror glass

Is there a knack to removing drivers side wing mirror glass on my 2003 Vogue?

And is it heated please?

Need to replace it as it’s gone all iridescent/petrol coloured? I’ve tried getting my fingers behind it but doesn’t seem to want to budge

Iirc angle the mirror glass inwards then pull hard from the outer edge.

When reinstalling, angle the motor central and press firmly in the centre of the glass.

Spread any load as to not shatter the glass. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Would it not be easier and safer to remove the mirror cap before changing the glass?

Cheers all - Glad I didn't continue earlier when I was going red in the face...

I'll approach it with a softer touch this weekend.

Car now belongs to MrsBlonde so I've got to get all the niggly little things sorted...... and pronto!! (her words)

Thanks all. Got the old glass off, it cracked and leaked a liquid all over me in the process Rolling Eyes

How do I know if it’s heated or not? There’s a plug going into it, and 2 thin press on wires as well

Just so I order the right one

If it's got the two wires it's hot the heater element built in.
Loads available on the web, just check year and heating to get the right one.

Likely to be the connector for auto dimming Thumbs Up

You’ll need to ensure the replacement has both heating and auto dimming functions, tend to be pricey unfortunately Crying or Very sad Jonathan

Struggling to find one with auto-dimming as well, could I just fit a heated one and leave the auto-dimming disconnected?

That will be a much cheaper solution…. But…. I’ve a feeling it might have a slightly different tint, and that would annoy me every time I drove 🤣….

That’s what I did on a previous L322, the price difference just wasn’t worth it to me Neutral Jonathan

Even in 2016, it was like £40 against £110 if I remember right. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Replacement glass has finally arrived and I’ve swapped over the clip-on mounting bracket…

Any tips on refitting it?

I genuinely don’t think I can press any harder on it Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Not sure what’s going to give first, the new mirror glass or the veins in my forehead
