Why do people call them “wing mirrors” when they are door mounted? Ron B. VK2OTC

I have replaced both of mine recently and thought they were safely snapped home only to have them fall out, thank god for the heating wires. Second go I sprayed the mounting area with silicone and the snap in was audible. No issues since 2007 TDV8 VSE
