It seems your car is not the only one with these issues, with that I,m surprised someone like Cam-tech-Craig has not come across this problem with all the cars he sees. overfinch modified

Nope definitely not alone but I've only heard of a few with this issue on L405, more on the facelift l322.

I'm the only one to have it on 3 cars though.

I know its not right from driving other cars though and I certainly wouldn't accept this ride quality in a 'luxury SUV' being normal.

I would expect someone like Craig or any well known specialist to have come across this before but it's likely the customer would have given up spending money on diagnostics and moved the car on before the fault can be found.

I think across all of us 322 and 405 people with this issue we've gone to the ends of the earth looking at every possible angle to solve it.

Unfortunately with the main dealers is that if no fault codes showing they are stumped ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Made them change the front arb bushes and to check that the dynamic response valve was the updated one as they changed 2015-2016 as showed the symptoms as early ones . They said was ok but replaced the fluid . No difference
They seemed to think that it is normal for these vehicles which I told them was b##cks as my previous vehicle was ok and they couldnโ€™t offer an explanation as to why ?
thankfully my latter vehicle is ok at the moment ๐Ÿ‘
Front air Shocks/ dampers and rear dampers / rear links were replaced . No difference
Front Link rods / control arms etc changed . No difference
Suspension / ride height etc was calibrated many times no difference
One thing I did just before I got rid off the vehicle was use a chassis vibration device which a plant fitter at work had and got him to clamp to top of suspension struts and quick drive down the road and could hear distinct knocking from all 4 dampers ??? Which had only been on the car a couple of months
But fitter said could be transmitting from further through the drive train
But couldnโ€™t investigate further as car was due to go ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
course of action for you maybe Mariana ? Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where,s the f**king ceiling!!

Agreed on the main dealers aljo, yours had the updated valve block for the dynamic anti roll bars then?

I was going to take the covers off and have a look at mine.

What was your previous vehicle?

It has got to be some sort of electronic fault especially your previous car if all the dampers were replaced.

They call that device 'chassis ears' could be something of use to pinpoint a failing damper but if the problem is electronic like I think it wouldn't do much but its a good suggestion.

Yes the โ€œchassis ear โ€œ proved that a distinct knocking was there even
after all the work was done just wish now I had taken the investigation further further ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Previous to that L405 was a sport and yes the L405 it had the updated dynamic response valve block
The โ€œchassis earโ€ would be great to trace the โ€œ knocking โ€œ back from the damper which is what the fitter suggested as the knocking would gradually be more pronounced ๐Ÿ‘ could even clamp it to a body mounting / subframe bushes / etc
Would have been worth a shot just to rule certain components out !
If I ever get the same problems on the vehicle I have now then I would certainly invest in a โ€œchassis earโ€ in order that I donโ€™t go mad and start talking gibberish and frothing at the mouth ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Although some say I do that now ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Post traumatic stress from owning a harsh riding L405 I suppose ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where,s the f**king ceiling!!

Chassis ears are something I'd really like in my diagnostics kit along with a picoscope.

Strange how your brand new shocks had knocking...

I was wondering about the dynamic response valve block as I'd seen a video going about YouTube blaming this as the problem but if yours already had the updated one then that might not be the culprit.

I am definitely walking round talking gibberish and foaming at the mouth at this point Rolling Eyes

I just want to own a Range Rover I can enjoy like my very first one.

I'm all out of ideas now except for manually checking the rear height sensors output which I didn't manage to get round to Friday.

The wireless chassis ears are a good bit of kit ๐Ÿ‘
I agreed with the fitter that the knocking could be coming from further down the drive chain
The plan would have been to chase the โ€œ knockingโ€ back to where it hopefully starts
1. Top of shocks
2. Bottom of shocks
3. Front and rear control arms ball joints etc
4. body mounting brackets
5 . Engine mounts
6 . Transmission
7. Transfer case
8. Centre prop shaft bearing
9. Rear axle
10. Rear axle mounting brackets
11. Dynamic response valve block
12. Dynamic Anti roll bars front and rear
13. Anything else that could be investigated Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where,s the f**king ceiling!!

Where you thinking finding the source of the knocking would lead you to the cause of the poor ride?

Wonder if that knocking you heard in the 4 new struts was in fact the solenoids activating/deactivating?

The knocking / thumping noise from the โ€œwireless chassis ear โ€œ was definitely not solenoids clicking in ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Was way too brash / rough for that Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where,s the f**king ceiling!!

Hmm strange one, I've got no idea what that would be to be honest Aljo.

Has to go out today and something is definitely not right, the ride was hard and harsh (as usual) the steering was really weighty and the engine laggy lethargic with poor lumpy gearshifts.

What a load of excrement.

Please ignore this if it is a stupid suggestion, but, is the car definitely in 'customer mode'? Idea
