2007 TDV8 Plagued with electrical issues

I’ve been helping a friend out with his TDV8 L322 recently. After a load of work it passed its MOT 3 weeks ago.

After just shy of 400 miles on the road it’s started to illuminate most of the dashboard like a Christmas Tree!

Scanning it with my IID tool it reveals a whole host of fault codes.

The only code that’s jumping out as meaning anything here is the vehicle speed sensor code. I need to try and figure out which one “Sensor A” is and see if it’s the sensor or the wiring that’s at fault.

Does anybody else see any issues on that list that I’m missing?

Thanks,

Battery seems to be holding a charge well without the voltage dropping. Alternator seems to be charging properly as well from what I can test with a multimeter.

Oh well, would have been an easy fix...!!

Speed sensor does seem like the item that could cause most of those faults... Pete

Abs sensor gone bad just need to find which wheel is the A sensor, at a best guess.

Thanks guys,

I'll try and get my hands on the car again and do some digging to find out which sensor it is.

Finally got a chance to have a look at my friends car today.

When I looked for the ABS ECU on the IID tool I didn’t see it. My IID tool isn’t registered to the car though so that could have something to do with it.

Going via the transmission ECU, I managed to find the live data for the 4 ABS sensors.

Initially all 4 showed as faulty. I managed to get the codes to clear and when looking, all 4 showed as OK. I took it for a drive and all was OK for approximately 200yds, then at exactly the same time, all 4 sensors instantly jumped to “FAULTY” on the IID tool and the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree.

I’m still non the wiser to which Sensor A is though!

Would you see all of the other codes being created through a faulty ABS sensor?

Finally managed to replace this ABS sensor last night.

Old one wouldn't budge so instead of messing around I sent a 13mm drill bit down the middle of the sensor without going right through and then pulled it with a pair of long nose pliers. Sensor out in under 15 minutes Smile

Cleaned the hub up with a wire brush and fitted the new sensor.

Test drove the car and it exhibited the exact same symptoms. Big Cry

I'm convinced I'm on the right track though. Last time I was looking at the codes my friend was driving. Last night when I was driving I felt the ABS tickling the brake pedal at low speeds. Back to the drawing board for trying to work out which corner is doing it though!

I know you probably have done this, but make sure the sensor you replaced is the proper part, they change from front to back and diesel to petrol, a resistance check should tell you which sensor it is...

This is the sensor that was fitted to the car:

https://www.island-4x4.co.uk/sensor-rear-d...42276.html

I'll need to start doing some digging to see what I can find. Just not enough hours in the day to deal with my own cars let alone help a friend out.

Does anybody know what the resistance reading of a good ABS sensor should be?

I know you could measure the resistance of sensors in old cars but I wasn't sure if you could it with the newer sensors in modern cars.

What's really strange is that monitoring the ABS sensors in the IID Tool Live Values, they all show "OK" but as soon as the fault occurs they all instantly change to "Faulty".

Does anybody have a wiring diagram for the ABS on a 2007 car?

I've just checked the resistance of all the ABS sensors at the plug for the ECU.

The front left sensor appears to be open circuit so I've ordered one from Euro Car Parts for collection tomorrow.

Did the Eurocarparts sensor cure the faults?

Sorry, I didn’t get a notification that you’d replied.

No, the sensor didn’t cure the fault. It did however cure the resistance issue at the ECU.

There was a 2nd fault on this car… The reluctor ring on the OSR driveshaft had come loose and it wasn’t rotating with the shaft.
