L405 Oil Filter - 2017 SD 4.4

I need some help here please - this is driving me mad.

I ordered an SD 4.4 L405 oil filter from a reputable aftermarket suppplier who sent me a Mahle LR022896G, whech I found didn't fit. It has a raised lip on both sides whereas my exisiting one is flat.

I later found out that this filter is only for 2012 and 2013 models, and the L322 TD 4.4 models.

So I ordered a Bosch one which was described as being for the 2014 model onwards. It just arrived and is the same shape as the Mahle one. WHen I checked the part number, this affirmed that is is also for the <2014 models.

Every time I try to search for the correct one, I'm directed to the wrong one!

Does anyone know a reputable suppler for aftermakekret filters for my car in the UK? I really don't want to buy a genuine one from LR.

Any help would be appreciated!

Have you removed the old filter? they have to clip in aparrantley so this is the correct one .

I,m yet to do mine but someone posted here about the middle coming out and that it did not look right when in fact it was. overfinch modified

Yes I removed the old one. Good job I didn't drain the oil first. I found that the one that was sent to me did not clip in, and had a raised lip around the hole and was longer.

Amazon Mann HU 718/5X is the best filter you can buy for the 4.4 SDV8. It says pack size 2 but you only get 1.

Reading what Suki said about the oil filter I,m now wondering why the one I posted above did not fit as it's the same part number .
It does look different to the genuine one though, can anyone confirm?

I would say much stronger than Genuine the cords that go around the filter stop the filter from deforming keeping the oil path fully open.

OK all, I have found the answer to my dilemma.

Firstly, even though some suppliers list 2012-2013 and 2014> separately (and even list different products!), they are all essentially the same.

The Mahle and the Bosch ones I bought both fit.

What threw me was that (a) they were a different shape to the original (had a lip at each end), and (b) when I tried to push the Mahl one in, it didn't want to snap in place. The answer was that it needed quite a hard push.

Please see the pic - The Mahle, the Bosch, and the original. They are exactly the same overall hight, but the original does not have a lip.

I can also report that the top of an Evian bottle is an exact fit for the oil filler and makes an excellent funnel.
