Apparently the can bus on the L405 is being accessed by cutting a small hole in the rear tail gate.

Maybe, maybe not. I looked into the Ghost system when I joined this sub after buying a used L405 and after finding out more about its origins, I decided against it. As you may or may not know, Ghost and Autowatch are UK-created names for a Russian product called IGLA. While the French distributor refused to go into the reasons for the UK name change, my personal theory is that many people would think twice about buying an immobilizer system that's designed and manufactured by Russian hackers. In Russia. Which begs the question: why doesn't Autowatch disclose the origins of their star product? Aside from the global anti-Russian sentiment going around, your guess is as good as mine, but ultimately, my point is this: it might be that Ghost stickers will attract the wrong type of thief, if you catch my drift. Anyhoo, here's IGLA's website, based in Russia, if you're interested: https://iglaglobal.com/Products IGLA's product that's sold by Autowatch under the Ghost II moniker is actually the IGLA 231. Now, does anybody happen to know an alternative, technically comparable product that's not made in Russia? Last edited by calicoj on 18th Apr 2023 8:49am. Edited 2 times in total |

They then just use bolt cutters to cut a section out of the wheel, all done in about 5seconds... Problem with the CAN Bus thefts is that there’s no proposition of an “official” solution, and the number of L405s and L494s supposedly being stolen is borne out by the insane rises in insurance cost.

I have Smartrack 5 +imob fitted to another car, immobiliser and tracker in 1. A fob has to be present for the car to start plus the added bonus of a tracker. About ÂŁ500 fitted and ÂŁ17 per month for the tracker. Insurance is less than ÂŁ300 per annum. |

Right I see now that searching for the one word canbus gives a lot more hits on the forum.
TGE? As per my first post it seems to me the only immobilisers that may have a chance against this sort of attack are the Autowatch Ghost or Scorpion X Series.
