Yes I agree it's a luxury car and should have a magic carpet ride.

I will definitely find another to drive and compare as I did with my 322s.

I can't one hand steer whilst reversing like you say but we are comparing 322 to 405 here.

Although with electric power steering I imagine it should be very easy (again taking into account its a large car with big wheels)

I have tried disabling dsc which doesn't change the ride quality at all so I reckon that means it's working OK.

I'd unplugged a shock on my 322 before and yes the ride was completely bloody awful Laughing

Also is there any way to do a full complete utter reset on the car?

Just disconnecting the batteries clears some things but not everything as the sat nav remembers previously entered locations etc.

Is there a way to completely factory reset to as per brand new?

My understanding is that disabling DCS should disable the CVD system therefore give a harsh ride. If no different, then that suggests that it’s not disabling CVD system as I understood, or you do have issues!

Maybe unplug a shock..l even if just to prove or disprove that? It’ll help get nearer the issue, or knock something off the list! Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

I know Graemes on here has always said disabling DSC makes the shocks stiffer but that was on a 322 so not sure if it applies here.

I have tried it with the fuse for the CVDs removed and it is rock solid as you'd expect.

Thanks Haylands, I'll bear that in mind. Mad busy at the moment but I'll be in touch.

Any thoughts on how to perform a full factory reset other than battery off?

Never heard of any way to do a total reset, maybe there is a software update for the suspension available... Pete

Actually that's made me think of something Haylands... wonder if LR did some sort of update on the suspension ecu when they fitted the new compressor?

That could be the issue in a roundabout kind of way. Different manufactures make the same pump that need their own software to run properly. Maybe they did not touch the software but put a different make of pump in? SDV8

You have an IIDTool don’t you?
I have various emails in my inbox with s/w versions shown. If you have one it’ll give you that answer…

If not, it’ll at least show you if any updates are available… Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Wasn’t there also a step where you (with the battery disconnected) touch the leads together for a minute? It was described to completely drain all systems of power iirc Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Good thought evo, I'd expect some sort of warning or fault to show if that was the case but you never know.

Ffrr, I did have an IID tool but I sold it after selling l322 number 2 as I went over to a Bentley for a while.

I've currently got SDD V163 and an Autel AP200.

Touching the battery leads together with the battery disconnected is all I currently know about as far as resets go

No warning light. I only know as I watched a video the other day on the very subject on youtube. He coded the correct software to the pump with IID tool. Will go see if I can find it. SDV8

Well, ahem! To prove my theory, unexpectedly! I had my 405 on the local hunter machine last week as I felt the car pulling every so tiny bit to the right! Haven’t driven it since. Until today!!! I have been 55miles down the motorway today and well! OMG! It’s shiiiite! Ride is rubbish it’s vibrating all over the road! It’s fidgety! It feels like a damper has popped! I will get it on the ramp first thing tomorrow and report back!

Well that's really interesting Craig,

Please do report back! Did you track it yourself (I believe you work on these for a living) or did you take it somewhere?

If you did take it somewhere and they set it so everything was 'in the Green' I'd be interested to know why its now driving like you say.

Also to add I've just been out and done a full battery disconnect so that's both batteries unhooked both positive and negative terminals.

All connected back up and what do you know the steering is now 'palmable'

From previous experience with previous cars this may only last a day or so but I will report back.

No improvement to ride however.
