Today I looked at a beauty of a l322!

they had mentioned it had some gearbox issues but they turned out to be a little strange so I wonder if it might not be as catastrophic as I or they think

Basically moving the gear lever feels a little spongy if that makes sense and it goes through all the gears really well but you have to hold the gearstick back in drive because as soon as you let go it drops back to neutral.

Do you think this could be as simple as a gear linkage issue or its the start of a gearbox failure

Its a low mileage 3.6 2007 done just over 80k

any advice very much appreciated

Could just be a linkage probem. Does it have any issues starting if you move the gear lever slightly in park?, which would indicate a linkage problem.

Have they had any work done on the gearbox & are there any leaks. Have you driven it or looked underneath at the gear box?.

Thanks, No they have not had any work done to it but its about the mileage the gearbox oil should be replaced from what I have read.
it goes through the gears fine and no real hesitation goes into park it just feels a little like its not locked into D without holding the gearstick back



It didnt like going into park without a bit of force and the definite click because it wouldn't let me remove the key

My money is a one the linkage being the problem, get under and see how corroded it looks and get it freed off and lubed up.

It's all pointing towards the linkage. To be honest the six speed gearboxes are pretty good.

So picked the car up yesterday and drive home with out any real problems. I did have to just keep gearstick back to keep it in gear. The other gears work perfectly as do reverse. It does have an small problem as although the light shows its in park.

Its has to be wiggled to get the key out most of times but sometimes comes out with any issues

I will try to get under it at the selector cable. Also it threw up check brake fluid. I did stop at the petrol station bought some and just topped up the reservoir a bit as it was dark.

But the drive home was around 50 miles and it did not miss a beet

so plugged in the icarsoft and it came up with the code p0826. I have looked at the gear selector and seems to move ok but sounds a little clunky. I will attach a short video if I can figure out how

I am still unsure if the noise is louder than it should be just sounds a little clunky to me it still starts as long as in neutral doesn't seem to know its in park even though the light says its in P and also P on the dash. it doesn't like letting go of the key without a wiggle

I have just had delivered the new replacement so when the weather is better I can get under and replace

Very difficult to diagnose remotely. However, lack of power on demand likely means an intake or a boost problem, although could also be ignition (injectors) also.

The simple things would be to take off both intercooler hoses (the two big hoses in the photo) and have a thorough look for splits or leaks.

Also have a thorough look around the intake manifold and throttle body for any splits (you'll likely see diesel soot in the vicinity or a sludge build up).

Any evidence of when the fuel filter was changed? If not, this is also worth changing.

If it's not intake, then it's likely a boost issue - any smoke or soot out the back at 2,500+ RPM?

Just as a little update the brake issue was the rear drivers side brake hose was leaking so I have bought 2 to do both sides.

I still have the loss of power issue

I have checked the top hoses and they are both fine no cracks.

Using the icarsoft I took some manifold absolute pressure reading and both bank 1 and 2 had pretty much the same numbers bank 1 98kpa and bank 2 94kpa

then some commanded boost actuator control with higher rpm and they showed bank 1 at 46.67% and bank 2 at 77.65%

then higher rpm and bank 1 was 78.43% and bank 2 was 73.33%

the only error code shows p132b turbo/supercharger boost control a performance.

I know I should just take it to a garage but I am really keen to try and learn and do as much as I can.
But I can get these live readings and honestly I have no clue if they are good or not.

She runs so beautifully no suspension problems and only 87k miles. perfect interior and everything works. ticks over really well its just this loss of power issue. I have not had an error messages on the dash. just saying check brake fluid but I know what that is now.

is there any other ways with live data that I can use to help see diagnose the p132e and strangely also threw a p2269 water in fuel condition..
