3M contact sensitive tape - I'll get you a part number tomorrow, it's less than 0.5mm thick so won't cause any bulges. |

3M VHB tape is likely the best option, but there are many different types depending on what you need it for, what type of materials you're fastening to each other, including the different types of body paint, so don't hesitate to contact your local 3M office and ask for guidance - they're very good at providing advice.

It can matter. Tape thickness depends on what you're bonding together and how much space you need in-between. The best thing to do would likely to figure out or ask outright (to a dealer/mechanic) what the correct thickness is so that, in turn, you can buy and use the proper tape/thickness combo. Thickness can be crucial in some applications but irrelevant for others - it all depends on the desired end-result and the nature and material of said parts. For instance, some parts need to be as close together as possible for purely aesthetic purposes or to limit ingress of dust, while others may require a small height difference to avoid one part marking the other over time. Choose wisely and get advice from someone who does this for a living. |
