I've driven many FFRR's with different tyres on in different stages of wear, the Pirelli ones have always been the best compromise as a mixed use tyre. I would also say whichever you go for, make sure they are marked LR, the compound and sidewall strength etc. are tuned to manufacturer specifications and perform much better compared to the same tyre but with generic build spec.

That’s an interesting point as I did price some Pirelli’s up and I did come across a set with Land Rover in the ad! 2009 (2010 MY) 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography

I replaced my 7 yr old LR marked Verde’s to the same and there was a noticeable difference in ride quality and handling. I’d put this down to more a modern design, 3 mm vs 7mm tread and old age hardened rubber vs new. I’m not entirely convinced there are material differences between make specific and generic tyres of the same model but given there is no cost saving in not ticking the box it’s sensible to opt for it. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

LR branded tyres are known as homologated tyres, LR spends over two years and millions of £ fine tuning the tyres to be as good and safe as they can.

Great question. Does LR homologation really make that much difference vs Mercedes, Audi or the vanilla version? |
