I've got a 2005 Supercharged that has the adaptive headlamps and "static bending lamps" as they are called in the manual - I can't seem to get these additional lights to come on.

I've read elsewhere that they are supposed to come on below a certain speed when the steering is activated or the indicators are activated but mine won't come on at all.

Can anyone enlighten me ?!?!

Mine come on when I'm driving less than about 30mph and I turn a tightish bend, such as turning into a side road.

If they are working you will see the road light up on the inside edge of the turn. They are quite bright so I doubt you would miss this, perhaps your bulbs need replacing?

Hi yeah they work when stationary.

you do need to be moving and i am pretty sure they will come on even if the indicator is not used. have you checked your fuses... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

you never know they may have been disconnected as they have a habit of burning the chrome inners, V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

I have a feeling that this facility can be turned on or off by programming? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Might be. I know LR had some probs with the lights melting the housing in situations where they were on for longer periods (such as traffic).

Mine work when I just turn the wheel in park.

i thought they stopped that... as that's what was melting the chrome housing and it dont take long to do it... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

OK def work when stationary. They are active only when the engine is running, the headlamps are on and reverse gear is not selected.

The AFS takes inputs from a number of systems including:

Steering angle sensor
Vehicle Speed
Headlamp Status
Reverse gear selector
Engine Running Status
Automatic Lights on

It is also worth noting that the static bending lamps are ultimately controlled by the lighting control module, the AFS Module sends a request to the LCM for them to be lit. Main AFS control for the headlamp is direct from AFS module to headlamp via a private LIN.

Quick question, when you turn the ignition on do your headlamp calibrate? by that can you see the beams motor inwards and dow before resetting level?

If not just buy a new AFS (Adaptive Front Lighting System) module. It is just plug and play with no programming needed and is the same part as the RRS an D3/4. It not very cheap at about £140 IIRC but you may find one on ebay. They are common between all pre and post facelift models (not too sure about 10MY onwards) and it is located behind the interior trim panel at the bottom of the passenger a pillar, 2 mins work to replace.

I spent a long time chasing why mine weren't work without the AFS fail light on. I isolated a blown bulb in the cluster by disconnecting the module and the warning illuminated. Turned out to be the AFS module and now all is working fine.
