Your key words says it all “too good to scrap”. There’s Martin at Dartford Transmissions who could quote on a new/used subframe? Find someone local who’s a lover of working on these beasts, you may be surprised.

a new one wouldnt be worthet for this car to be honest, a good used one (thats been coaked in oil most of its life) is ideally what im after, found s few for £100/£150 on ebay. ideally id view first.

Can I ask roughly what your customers bill was ?

TBH I never saw the bill as was just the fitter at the time, but best part of a day’s labour by the time you’ve stripped everything off then rebuilt it again.

Did you fix, or scrap it.

I doubt the OP will reply, it’s a 2-year old post.

If budget allows, why not buy another identical model which has little rot & subframes replaced but otherwise a mechanical write-off, and use yours as a donor car, assuming you can do much of the swap-over yourself?

If you have to pay for the work, it starts looking uneconomic, labour is a car killer these days. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?
