Follow up..

I was brave (no i didn't just pull it down). Found the two screws at the back and popped the console off. There was a very short flat connector up the front with 4 wires. Not the mic one as that is further back (near the cover) so I assume I have the wiring at least in place for the sensors..

Thumbs Up Ash

Got one off fleabay - £75 obviously not tried anything yet as I don't have the other parts (still to order) but do get the "dot of death" in the instrument cluster. Obviously inconsistent mileage I guess. Hopefully will be able to get that coded once it's all up and running though. Ash

Right - Light and rain sensor fitted to new screen. Looks great and lights up when I pull into the garage and turns off when I pull out (with a bit of a delay) but Censored if I can get the auto wipers to work.

Do you rekon it could be a coding thing and need to be activated.? Ash

Until I had my issue with R/S I would say no. However In the last few days I found out that if your car is set to variable delay that is a specific setting. I'm working with Storey with his Rover All Comms to be able to code this.

I would say that a dealer "should" be able to enable this for you, however I would definitely check to ensure they are comfortable/competent at this, I'd hope to pay no more than 30 mins labour?

When Storey cracks the code for the RS then if I can help, I'll give you a shout.

Many thanks Dan - I can always rely on your knowledge to get me out of trouble. Much appreciated..Bow down

Auto lights work perfectly so that's a bonus. Thought it might just be plug and play but testing the wipers tonight I seem to just get intermittent (slow delay on pos 1) or intermittent (normal delay on pos 2)

No matter how much water the hose chucks at the screen no effect on't window... Grrrrrr.! Ash

Actually - just sat here with the manual.... It suggests

Pos 1 intermittent/variable
Pos 2 Normal wipe - I get intermittent here as well..
Pos 3 Fast wipe
Pos 4 (down from off) flick wipe

How very strange. Ash

Well, I hope my previous encouragement didn't get you into this trouble! Embarassed

I'm very excited about the auto lights though. I've finally found a LCM, but need to plug it in to see if I get the tamper dot.

Could you do a mini guide/write up on exactly what's needed for the retrofit? Maybe on the WiKi?

I guess there are three components:
New Rain/Light sensor
MK4 LCM
Light Switch with Auto setting

But is a new glass mount required or is it just the sensor?

Yup - that's the "Speed Step"

When you are stationary you get delay wiper on normal speed and slow wipe on fast speed Smile

Ah - That'll be it then. I was parked in the drive giving the car a quick shower at the time..

And yes - it was your fault that I started down the upgrade road - to be fair it was partly Daveo as well.. Thumbs Up

Will do a write up as well. Wish I took some photos now though.! Ash

Wink

Need to contact the mods I think. Just created the wiki page but seems I don't have permission to create any content (or too dumb to work out how to do it)

Will add it when I can. Ash

Oh and be careful with the LCM. Mine said LCM - 4 on it but it did not work the auto features. The one I got from "the Bay" also said LCM - 4 and did work. This is what I bought in total.

LCM - 4 with Auto function from a 2007 FFRR £75.00 (ebay)
YDB200320 Light/Rain sensor £45.11
CTN000080PUY Mirror surround (left) £21.71
CTN000090PUY Mirror Surround (right) £21.71
YUD500880PUY Auto Light Switch £41.65

And of course a new screen !

Although I got a discount (not shown above) from the parts guy as I seem to be in there a lot lately. (and he plays snooker at the club where I play. Always good to mingle with the natives as he just offered me discount without asking.!) I think it was 20% Ash

Is there a different mount on the glass? ie did you "need" the new screen?
