Looking at coming back to L405- questions….

Hi everyone,

Since my last L405 I’ve been in a RRS SC, a new Defender and now a D5 HSE LUX.

The D5 is great and does all I need of it but I’ve always loved driving a Range Rover for the pure feeling of it, they feel extra special.

Can anyone tell me if the rear seats in a normal SWB Vogue or VSE slide back and forth at all? I know that some cars are described as having power recline in the rear, but I wondered if you can increase leg room for kids in car seats a bit. You can in the D5 but it’s still a tight squeeze for my 4 yr old (he hasn’t found out he could comp,Ian but I feel bad for him as my seat is all the way back due to long legs)

I presume there’s no more space behind the front seats in a RR?

Also, I’m looking at 2018 ‘68’ plate onwards to get the internal and external facelift. Had they sorted out the knocking suspension by these models as I had to fight to get that done last time.

I’ve not driven the SDV6 275bhp engine before and on paper it’s not as good as the 3.0 SDV6 in my D5 which has about 306bhp. Has anyone had both and can comment on the difference?

Had considered a LWB but opening the bigger doors in car parks seems a problem.

Would love to know your thoughts. Thanks Discovery 4 HSE

Im pretty sure they don’t, you can move the cushion when you have Exec seating but that reduces the gap to the front seat,

You need a LWB!

I don’t think there’s a huge amount of legroom behind a tall driver in the std wheelbase car, but it’s not different to a SWB large saloon. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Looks lovely Craig. (I’d expect nothing less from your stable!)

I had the exec rear seats in my last L405 and wouldn’t bother again, not very practical with kids , I didn’t like losing the floor space and the non folding aspect of the seats was a pain in the end, it was very fancy, but not for me.

I’m most interested in how the SDV6 275bhp engine in the RR compares to the SDV6 306 bhp engine in the D5 compare. On paper the D5 wins top trumps. Discovery 4 HSE

More importantly Adam, the 3.0 looses the active dynamics! There’s a deal breaker right there…

Your better off going and driving a 3.0 & a 4.4 back to back… The lack of active roll control would sway my decision sir…

Craig,

Is that just an option though? Most 68 plate cars I’ve looked at seem to show Dynamic mode, is it the same thing?

Here’s a photo of a typical example

Ahh, now I’m unsure about facelift models as they haven’t really trickled down to me yet (for servicing etc etc) as the facelift model is obviously 18MY >

Maybe try canvassing the forum for late model owners Adam?
