I think the oldest 4.4V8diesel is 2010, so only 12 years old now.... Pete

Depends when it was registered - after 1st April 2017, it’s £520 - £165 plus the rip-off £355 for being over £40k (until it’s six years old). |

Yes I believe that's the case. The VED system changed in April 2017 so that for new vehicles there was an additional amount payable (£340?) for the first five years on top of the flat rate, then it drops to the flat rate of £165 (IIRC was £140 when the changes were first introduced). As well as the facelift etc, the reduced VED adds to the appeal of a 2017 + model. |

OK so when the 17 model has passed its fifth birthday the road tax will be £165, not so bad at all. |

Sixth - it’s five years after the first year’s tax ends. |

That’ll work for me. Next year I’m hoping to switch from my Sport to an L405 that’s ULEZ compliant with low VED and a facelift. With any luck the craziness in second hand prices will have subsided as well. 😁 |

Interesting this. Mine is a '17 MY first registered in June 17. I paid £490 RT in Jan this year (Tax from Feb) up from £475 the year before. I know everything goes up all the time so maybe the numbers quoted are for different years ....but does it mean that my tax cost goes down to £165 next year - ie from Feb '23? Seems unlikely, but happy to live in hope! ...And my last 2012 L322 5.0 SC tax was £580 in Jan '21 three weeks before I paid £475 for the SVA! Maybe they just make up the numbers on the day. My 2016 4.4 diesel is £350.oo Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

Yes, a 2016 car to tax now would be £360.As i understand from posters here a 17 model in its sixth year will be £165.

I have a 2017 4.4tdv8 registered on 30/3/17 and pay monthly for the VED. I thought I was paying£320/year but the new tax year became payable in July at £378. |

That's a shame, missed it by a couple of days! If it had been registered on or after 1st April 2017 the lower rate VED would apply from April 2023. |

I’ve saved the extra payment over the last four years of ownership (4 x 340 = £1360) so not overly concerned. |
