England 2003 Range Rover HSE Td6 Epsom Green
2003 td6 slight engine issue

Hi All

I haven’t been able to drive my Range Rover for a couple of months due to failing it’s mot. It’s recently passed I’ve recently noticed some odd behaviour with what I believe to be the engine. It’s fine at low RPM and revs right up to about 4500 to 5000rpm and seems to accelerate ok.

However when under load in 4th or 5th it seems to get stuck at 2500 rpm and will just lose speed then it will change down and just hold about 3000rpm. The revs have started bouncing at 2500rpm in 4th, it only varies by about 100rpm when it bounces and you can feel the car kangerooing.

No issue starting. It always starts. It seems a bit sluggish and the engine seems harsher for a couple of minutes after. A leak off test has shown 2 injectors are leaking off more than the others.
I have a fault code for boost pressure regulation 1E30 and smooth running controller correction quantity too high.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the reply Wayne.

I’ve checked all the vacuum hoses.

Some other information I forgot to mention. All turbo hoses have been replaced and I’ve checked the linkage that moves the turbo vanes and checked the turbo shaft, both are fine. I’ve fitted a vortex breather to replace the filter type. A full egr delete has also been fitted.

There is a whistle from the turbo that sounds exactly the same as when the suspension exhausts air. This is only noticeable in top gear after accelerating then easing off and applying about 10% throttle if pressed a bit harder the whistle gets slightly louder abs higher pitched then stops. This tells me there’s a leaks somewhere but hard to test due to it only being present in fifth gear.

Im not sure if I have a turbo issue and a fuelling issue or just one issue causing both problems.
