Why do you think it is leaking ?
If it is drips on the floor, did you remove and clean the undertray ?, they can take ages to stop leaving drip marks if you didn’t.

Smoke coming up around the oil filter and faint traces of oil in the coolant

There are two distinct areas of potential leakage. Around the oil cooler via the main gaskets, or the oil feed pipe via (2) perished O-rings.

When you changed it a couple of months ago, did you fit new gaskets and O-rings? Also, did you fit a genuine unit, or was it one of the cheap aftermarket ones? The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

Cooler is made by nissens, it came with new gaskets , o rings were not changed but don’t appear to be leaking

I do wonder about the aftermarket quality - especially the supplied gaskets.

LR have actually made new gaskets with different part numbers from the original ones, presumably to help cure the problem of failure.

I also bought a complete top hose before tackling the job, but didn't need it in the end. Handy to have a spare though!

The oil cooler gaskets are now # LR077242 & LR022903. I'd also suggest the replacing the original feed pipe O-Rings with Victon BS611 O-Rings is an absolute no-brainer at the same time.

I didn't change the cooler itself - just the gaskets and O-rings. Six months later with 5k miles done and the cooler area is still clean as a new whistle. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

I too also thought the issue was perished rubber seals and o-rings, not the actual oil cooler. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I understand the cooler can warp sometimes. The garage that did mine said they had also seen coolers that had cracked.

Wot MJD said. My cooler had warped slightly as they are 2 parts and weren't sitting correctly so leaked out.
