So, after spending time underneath I decided to give the engine bay a clean up. It was dusty and grubby. A spray over with 50/50 mix of G101 was agitated using detailing brushes in and around all the crevasses, corners etc until it frothed up and lifted the dirt.
Before -
After - Whilst here i noticed this which looks like it should have a hose attached - does anyone know if/what should be attached ?

Thanks ![]() I'm trying to track down the stickers on the slam panel which list the Air Con details on one and two just above each headlight unit - if anyone knows if they are available ?? Door Handles, well covers. Due to the high wax content in the original Door handles they fade and look pretty rubbish over the years so I invested in a Brunel Grey Door Handle Cover Kit from www.PowerfulUK.com Not cheap at £63 (well, since the last time I bought a set anyway) but I think they smarten up the handles & sides.
Original Faded Handles - Covers Fitted - ..and then of course.. I find a set of Brand New Genuine Door Handles, in Brunel Grey, in my 'Parts Store' ![]() 2005 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.2 Supercharged V8 Follow my 4.2 Supercharged antics - https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic63354.html https://www.instagram.com/l322_supercharged/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8ChHNSdscnJarKjBLd_IAg https://www.youtube.com/@ChallengingClassics Last edited by Superspoons on 17th May 2022 12:30pm. When I bought the SC the seller sent me pictures of the rear arches down by the sills and of the rear arches by the bumper as they weren't in the advert. I expected to see some rust and they were honest enough to say it had bubbling on the arch of one side too.
As bought - Passenger Sill
So, I knew there would be some rust down there and I'd been told the Driver Side had already been 'looked at' before by someone. Side steps need to removed before the sills. The Air Tank covers two of the side steps mounting bolts that go into the body there making it difficult and of course one sheared off - they are tiny. Next I removed the plastic trim clips underneath and then, with both doors open removed the sill covers with a firm pull outwards. Take out the wheel arch liners too. Once off I removed the Jacking Pads (Just leaver out the small Plastic Pin in the middle with a thin trim tool - DONT whack the pin through as you will distort the pad and if the mount is really rusty, force it up in the Sill itself. Removing the Jacking Pad - Passenger Sill
Drivers side was much the same. Not a pretty sight so needs looking at and fixing. I looked into the sills with my mini camera , ignore the date on the camera, and was glad to see the rust hadn't spread to the inner sills on each side. Booked it in to my local garage who had a good look beforehand and said those immortal words - "Leave it to me". And its back. Rot cut right out, new outer sills and strengtheners fabricated, welded beautifully and given a spray of body colour. Cavities all waxed to.
I'm very happy with the work. Its solid as a rock under there now and will last for years. Next steps are to refit the covers but not the steps just yet. The rear arches have some rot in them just above the bumper so at the end of June its going back to have this looked at. Replacement panels have been ordered in case they are needed. Once that's been sorted it'll be having a respray from the sills back to the rear quarter and blended in at the same time. I will then treat the inside of the arches as David has done on his SC in his post. I had rubbed it all down and treated the arches to rust inhibitor before the welding work anyway. The Headlights on my SC were pretty dire when I bought it. They had a 'greeny', moss like covering and were rough to the touch. This had been picked up on the last few MOT's as an Advisory so I wanted to get them sorted out.
Headlights before - Headlights After - I think they came up really well. Efficiency has improved too. That welding work looks like a nice result! They've done a good job on that! Once mine is back on the road I'm going to get the cill covers off to get a look under there properly. There's nothing creeping on it yet but am expecting to see it starting I reckon.

Yes, I'm really pleased with the welding and it will be an interesting write up when they do the arches.
