So I was trying to pair my iPhone 7 to the Bluetooth on my new (to me) 2007 l322. So I found the car and paired using code 2121. It paired up and I thought great, that was easy, lets try a call. Being a billy no mates, I rang my answerphone. The radio stopped as the phone dialled but when it connected, there was no sound (not through the car speakers or the phone). Then the radio came back on again while the phone itself was still clearly connected to the call. I tried unpairing and repeating dialling out using the car touch screen, but nothing.

Am I doing anything obvious wrong?

Same symptoms I had, turned out to be a faulty Bluetooth module damaged by damp.

Remove your module and inspect the pins on the connector, mine had very little corrosion so I opened up the module to find the circuit board was damaged.

I purchased a 2012 module that was advertised as from a Sport so was only £50 rather than the £100 normally asked for. There is a how to in the wiki if you are not sure.

Oh blast. Thats a shame. Of course, now I'm looking, the modules all seem to be £120 plus! Even the RRS ones! Where did you get yours from?

I got mine from eBay, just checked and it was £50 including postage. If I remember right I did wait a while and just got lucky.

Some are trying it on with pricing I see there is one at £236!

I have a Bluetooth module removed from a 2007 here if you need one - £40?

The 2007’s don’t store the pin on iPhone afaik otherwise it’s perfect, and I believe you can get them updated if needs be. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

The Bluetooth unit was faulty. Looking at the pics of the normal problems, it had corroded pins and water damage.

Where does the water leak in from? Can it be sealed easily or is there something else (takeaway tub over the top of the unit) to stop the damage recurring with the replacement unit?

Can the old damaged units be DIY fixed?

I tried a repair on mine, once opened it was obvious of where the water had come from. It caused corrosion on the pins of the connector and then damaged the tracks on the circuit board to the first chip. I repaired these by soldering some fine wire on to the remains of good track.
Very fiddly and required a 1mm bit on my soldering iron.
Unfortunately it still didn't work so I just gave up. I may go back to it sometime.

There is what LR call a water shedder, I got mine from Rob at Duckworths, but I've yet to fit it as I am waiting for better weather
