Same symptoms I had, turned out to be a faulty Bluetooth module damaged by damp.

I got mine from eBay, just checked and it was £50 including postage. If I remember right I did wait a while and just got lucky.

I tried a repair on mine, once opened it was obvious of where the water had come from. It caused corrosion on the pins of the connector and then damaged the tracks on the circuit board to the first chip. I repaired these by soldering some fine wire on to the remains of good track.
