Check your crank case filter LLJ500010 located in the rocker cover underneath the air filter, they can block causing crank case pressure and smoke. Try removing the oil filler cap with the engine running, if there’s a lot of back pressure its likely to be this small filter. |

If it is the above filter, replace it with a later BMW vortex one. Never have to change it then….

Ok pal , will do that , ive seen / dealt with turbo failure before , the symptoms dont exactly fit in this case , i assume i have to remove the airfilter completely then ??? |

I can’t remember mate, years since I had my TD6 and garage swapped mine. It’s not the air filter it’s the crankcase breather…. It tends to get missed when servicing and gets blocked. BMW changed it but had sold Land Rover by then.

Update ! Ive ordered a vortex breather but in the mean time i bodged it , just drive 40 miles and after a bit of smoke its no not smoking at all so fingers crossed, that was the issue |
