Would a broken cv mean a total loss of drive? I thought centre diff would apportion drive to the rear. I ask because i have no drive and cans see front driveshaft spinning and wheel not turning. 4.4V8 L322 to keep me busy

Front propshaft or driveshaft from diff to wheel?
Could be the front diff has failed? Would probably make a lot of noise along with the part rotating?

When my front drive shaft popped out of its housing all drive was lost, so imo yes it will be your cause

The Torsen centre differential used in the NV225 transfer box can only 'bias' the torque up to a maximum split of 65%/35% to either the front or rear - it can't lock. If one propshaft sees zero torque because a wheel is spinning or a driveshaft joint has popped out of engagement, then unfortunately the other propshaft will see zero torque too.
