Hopefully, my ' mistake' will at least warn others of the danger of buying a car with a Disability Tax rating.

If only that was the only thing they do in that scenario and yours was the only one they do then I whole heartedly agree with you. It is a formal document as it documents the version of the truth (whether it is correct or not is immaterial). And yes covid has had a huge impact and created a big backlog with that department and many others.

Iām not sure you are aware but the selling dealer can apply online for the new V5C at time of purchase and your new document arrives in a few days. Saves all the hassle if you insist he does this. |

He could and did but dealer can't change tax status. That has to be done at DVLA via a post office that handles vehicle tax.Hence I couldn't pay the tax online. Got a usless V5C about four days after as it still stated Disability Tax .Only way to change it is to go to Post Office, fill in another form and pay tax there Application via P.O or by post for the replacement V5C both stated as requiring 6 weeks. |
