Sounds like you have swollen nuts! The nuts should take a 22mm socket, but if they swell up then it wont fit. You will have to remove them with an impact socket hammered onto the nut. They will need replacing IMHO, plenty of threads on this forum about this problem. |

Should be a 22mm socket but if they’re slightly swollen from corrosion under the stainless ‘cover’ you may need to use a 23mm instead

So the stainless steel ain't a cover then I take it and just needs an impact socket forced on to it.

The nuts are steel with a stainless steel cover fixed to them. The steel nuts will swell over time and this causes the covers to deform as well. If you can get your hands on a 23mm socket, that should fit, however the nuts ideally need replacing. There's plenty on ebay, the best ones to get are full stainless steel nuts, but they're expensive.

I had the same trouble but you will find a 12 point 21mm socket will work. |

Wheel nut / bolt maintenance should be part of the service schedule. Remove, clean up any rust on the threads (do not add grease) check and clean wheel to hub mating surfaces, torque the nuts to correct settings. Makes life a lot easier when you get a puncture. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

In over 25 years of owning LR vehicles with these particular wheel nuts l have only once experienced a swollen nut. I put this down to the fact that once a year l tend to liberally drip engine oil into the gap between the wheel nut and its cover, usually when the wheels are off for routine maintenance.

Yes, if they swell too much you won’t get any socket on without damaging the alloy…. Then its hammer and chisel time….
