I changed it as my old one was getting a little sooty underneath on outside. Some have tried ptfe tape but I thought Censored it letā€™s order a new one from Duckworths and see how it compares on fit.

Thanks. I checked with an LR ex mechanic and he confirms itā€™s a sensor to monitor boost temperature. If it goes up too high a value then boost is backed off Thumbs Up Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

They arenā€™t the tightest of fit out of the box.

I did the one on mine as it was a bit sooty, canā€™t say it made a difference, and the new one was only slightly better seal wise. A couple of wraps of PTFE sounds like a decent idea so long as itā€™s secure and doesnā€™t get into the intake.....

I didnā€™t tell mine it had a new one. Donā€™t think there is a method for this in any case.šŸ‘šŸ» There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammeršŸ˜œšŸ˜œ

Has the airflow temp sensor got any maker or spec markings on it?

If we could figure out its resistances or however it works, it may be possible to source an alternative and use something like this to dispose of the poor fitting, overly priced lump of plastic.

Ok. The alternative is to cut the spring section off, leave the sensor in and use a piece of silicon pipe between the two.

No I haven't but I am in need of a new one I think as my soot levels are climbing too quickly.

Went to London yesterday and had 5 regens. I had ptfe tape on and when I removed today it was clearly oily and sooty.

So it is a few quid for a bit of silicone if possible to do or 120+ for another ill fitting connector. 2011 4.4tdv8 Vogue

I'd be tempted to buy a new one off Duckworths (quick delivery by Robin I might add) and then you have your old one to play around with an alternative solution. I think the easiest way will be to cut off the end with the seal/clip thus leaving the plastic pipe with sensor and "side pipe" intact and then find a wide bore silicone hose to bridge to the throttle body. There is a fair length of throttle body "metal" for it to cover too....
