LOL some of the comments on here are hilarious. Remember there has been a whole season of this, if they wanted a clear win they should have performed better all year round, which they didn't. It is also a team sport, not just a driver, there are a 1,000 people supporting a team. They just choose a strategy that didn't pay off, I'm sure it is frustrating for the team with clearly the faster car (like magic) but they played that strategy as well, and took the hit. If they played it one race sooner it wouldn't have been a winner take all situation.

It will be interesting to see how far Mercedes are prepared to take this. For me, I would like to see Mercedes win an appeal but then to say that they don't want the outcome of the chamionship changed. This would show true sportsmanship and would establish that race control were wrong in their decisions. Even better would be if RBR supported Mercedes' appeal, after all it could so easily have been the other way around and it would have been just as wrong. Drives:

Anyone who suggests that Lewis should have pitted for fresh tyres under the safety car doesn't understand F1 - Merc had absolutely no choice but to leave him out.

Most of these hilarious comments are yours. "They just choose a strategy that didn't pay off" -- Red Bull were losing, they had no choice and were forced in every change. The better Man/Driver had built up a lead that RB could not compete with. If the role was reversed MV would have taken LH out on that last lap, we all know that. The better Man/Driver refused to lower himself to Mad Max's standards and emerged the true winner. Respect--Lewis, something MadMax will never have. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue |

What I don’t understand is why the lapped cars between Max and Carlos and all the way back were also not allowed to uncap themselves. I don’t believe it should have been turned into a 2 horse race, but Carlos should equally have been allowed to race Max. |

LOL Cutting the corner big time, complaining about Perez dangerous driving. Lewis the better man? Nah, he doesn't like competition. There is no such thing as the true winner, there is only one winner and points count. Just like Max had more wins yet Lewis had the same amount of points. It is what it is... I agree Red Bull were losing, but they did have a choice. Just as Mercedes. There is always a choice, the advantage Red Bull had was that there was little to loose with their choices, whilst Mercedes did. But hey that is sometimes how it goes, as clearly demonstrated in this instance... |

As do rules. Which were ignored and changed to favour Max. Whats the point of it all if the rule book is ignored and a race official decides the World Championship on a whim - that's not his job. Unless masi gets the boot is suspect a few of the main teams may pull out the competition as there's no consistency. What would have happened of it was say vettel in 2nd place against Hamilton. You can stick money on it would have finished behind the sc |

Teams won't pull out in a huff - it's a business as much as a sport. All this is generating lots more publicity which is most likely part of the intention.

Wasn’t there a proposal from Ferrari a while ago to set up a new race competition in lieu of F1 as they objected to the budget constraints? |
