long time F1 fan and not at all a Lewis fan, I find him a bit too corporate now, not that they all aren't to some extent. I do think the FIA did themselves no favours there in the rule twisting and the main problem was the ability of the teams to lobby directly to the race director. Had that not happened and Massi been put under pressure form both sides then he would have had a better chance to make more measured descisions.

As it was I can see why he did what he did in terms of getting them racing again for the last lap, im sure that he had the Liberty guys in his other ear bending that so it didn't finish under a safety car for the final race of the season.....

was if fair.... no, was it even racing, no. but to some degree im glad someone else won it for once, I was getting a bit bored of Lewis taking the title every year. Lets just hope the new regulations and cars make for more even racing and some of the midfield teams get a better run at it. here's hoping that the likes of McLaren, Aston and Alpine can up their game and take some wins off the top 2, and for the bottom end guys, there is the possibility of Haas having spent some money on the 2022 car so they might well feature. Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

And that's masi given the boot well demoted in truth. So overall it shows that even the FIA believe the result was wrong.

Hopefully now he's gone there will be some changes to the new season like doing away with comms, not being able too listen too other teams and talking to the directors unless needed through vehicle failure etc on the track

Roll on 2022 season

The fact that Masi has been removed is empirical evidence that the rules were contravened and that Verstappen did NOT win the championship based upon ability.

Looking forward to the new season and watching Hamilton put Verstappen firmly in his place. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Current

What ever way max looks at it, he knows he never would have won that championship if it wasn't for masi pulling his little stunt by only letting a few cars through and not the whole field of cars.

Too a certain extent I'm pleased that happened now in hindsight as this year I think both drivers will be more determined then ever too win so will both be pushing to the cars to the absolute limit of physics.

Quote from DT

The decision to replace Michael Masi as Formula 1’s race director may have answered one question which has been dragging on all winter. But it raises plenty more ahead of season which is now approaching at warp speed, with the first race in Bahrain in just over one month’s time.

Firstly, and most importantly, is the FIA’s decision to remove the Australian and overhaul the entire “refereeing” apparatus in Formula 1 an admission of guilt on their part? An admission that Masi and his stewards on the day erred in their handling of that late safety car period in Yas Marina?

Because if it is, naturally, that raises all sorts of further, uncomfortable questions. Questions such as: does this leave a great big asterisk next to Max Verstappen’s name (an official one rather than the one which was immediately applied by Hamilton’s army of fans post-Abu Dhabi)? Should the FIA look at reviewing the result of the race if they admit they got it wrong? Should the FIA not publicly apologise to Hamilton and to Mercedes?
