Lewis being Lewis. Complaining about dangerous driving, result unfair, don’t want racing.

They made the wrong tactical choice, had the faster car, and it cost them.

It’s easy for me to say with hindsight, but really Mercedes called it wrong,
If they had pitted, and got new tyres , at worse they would have stood a chance in a one lap race ??, or would Max still win ??

No right answer

If Lewis had pitted, then Max wouldn't have and then if the race finished under the safety car - he would have handed it to Max

Tough call, but I can't see he had another choice but to stay out.

I think it’s a shame we’re talking about the rules rather than the racing. It’s great that the competition has been closer but I think the stewards have ruined the racing element here with some very mixed / poor communication. Congrats to Max and the team today, Mercedes have made an error on tactics .

No need for rules next year if Racing control cant follow their own rules.
I dont think this is the end yet, i believe VAR is looking into this lol

Whoever was in charge……wasn’t in charge today. You have to be consistent on communications and messaging as well as he rules, otherwise it impacts the team decisions (or leads teams to try and influence the stewards)

A now deleted post stated “f1 stewards decide to give max verstappen title”😂

Had too love the fias comment too mercedes

Toto= it's called racing

Whilst max may well have been gifted the race win, redbull played their cards right and got some fresh rubber on. If Hamilton done the same it would have been different.

If Hamilton had pitted, Verstappen would have stayed out and started ahead. Then it would have been interesting.

However, the race may have finished under the safety car & then Lewis would have gifted the win to Max

It was a tough call but Lewis had to stay out.

The Redbull strategy was just to do the opposite of what Lewis did - which worked out well for them this time - but they really didn't have any other option.

Even as horner has said, mercedes had the stronger car. I think that kinda says a lot tbh when they know the red bull ain't on par with the silver arrows. Even if Lewis gave the first corner back, the silver arrows would have pulled the lead back but look at what it took for red bull too win

1 virtual safety
1 full safety
Perez holding him up
2 extra sets of rubber
5 lapped drivers to move out the way

All against 1 car on pretty old tyres and it's not like max just sailed past. He still had too fight for the lead so that says how strong Lewis and the silver arrows is.

Only thing I'm sad about is we didn't get to hear from the iceman.

Still bad practise from the fia not following their own rules. Just shows that the fia will and always do what they like to make the results work for them.

I'm pleased max won and he 100% deserves it but wouldn't you have wanted too see max earn it properly and not be assisted by the fia for scrapping half the rule book.

Just annoys me why have rules if they ain't going too be followed

@bean considering Mercedes went in with their barrister I doubt they threw away half their rule book.

Sure there are some odd decisions made, Lewis had a much faster car and was unlucky there was an accident. In the end team work and tactics won this race. Not just the fast car. If Redbull didn’t take a pun in changing the tyres they would not have won.

I think we can all say, that it was the most thrilling-to-watch, year of formula 1 ever. everybody guessing, and no clear favourite. Yes, controversy, yes questionable driver decisions... but some of the driving, head to head, has been the best there ever has been. -and today, the whole year, was all down to the last lap, of the last race, both titles, swinging both ways, until that last lap. if it was a Hollywood movie, it would be how this year panned out. and, without the polarised supporters calling out every talking point, we saw some fantastic driving, in both the opening laps, and the last laps through the whole year. Brilliant for spectators, fans, and people new to the sport. normally, I somehow snooze a little during a live race.... but not this year! today I was jumping up and down, and shouting! fantastic stuff!
