I helped a friend change the gear oil in his when it needed doing. He used LT71141 and I’m 99.9% sure it was straw coloured. If someone has put red oil in yours then it sounds like it’s the wrong oil.

If it were my car, I’d be wanting that oil out pretty damn quickly and not using it until it was out.

JWS3309 and LT71141 are two different fluids.

I wonder if they’ve used an aftermarket oil that claims to meet both specifications.

They are one of the best in the business for LR transmissions so I doubt it very much they put the wrong fluid in.
In their defence, I would have called them first to ask rather than post on here Whistle

Did they rebuild the box or did you take it to them following a rebuild elsewhere I wonder who used red oil? Whistle Rolling Eyes Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Hi, I totally agree which I why I wanted to ask on here first as not said bad word they did the job and they are well recommended just put me back a little when reading the red fluid was used.

as when doing my research, everyone says fluid which is rated Dexron III and LT71141 is not really the correct to use.

Of course I am no expert which is why I am seeking advice here. hoping RRphil will jump in and comment.

The gearbox was rebuilt under Warrenty 09/2018 @ just over 111k, by another garage. reason for recent work was leaking gearbox oil pan, and I believe oil was low in gearbox

and of course this could be a non issue, but rather know now instead having issues and in back my head thinking if its the fluid. 2003 Range Rover 4.4 Litre V8 - Adriatic blue

Gearbox oil

Interesting, our car was running perfectly (don't fix if it ain't broke comes to mind) we decided to have a full service, also engine and gearbox oil change. Since then we have been having gearbox problems when the engine is hot. When cold no problem. After about a twenty mile run, if we switch off we are then unable to start for about twenty mins. When it starts, it's perfect again with no faults shown.
Last week we were stuck in "P" at a garage after filling up for nearly half an hour Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed
