L322 4.4 TDV8 Longevity

Hi all,

I was looking at my mileage the other day on my 2012 L322 Westminster which is rapidly approaching 170k. Its currently doing around 450 miles a week, its a dream to drive and still pulls like a freight train. I would note that since Jan, it's had a new steering rack, new heater motor, pads and discs all round, from suspension rebuild and a number of other bits and pieces. Since June however it's demanded nothing. It will be having a service and transmission fluid change in December.

Whilst it is a pretty open question, would it be reasonable to expect 250/300k + miles out of the 4.4TDV8? I love the car, and if the weekly long distance driving will eventually take its toll, I would rather get a cheap run around to cover the distance.

I'm most probably just over worrying though!

But then you’d be doing the mileage in a cheap runaround…. Sort of defeats the object of having a nice comfortable car. Had it been something rare, I’d have agreed but I couldn’t think of another car I’d rather do the miles in.

I wouldn't worry….. folk on here have done in excess of 300000 miles.

Just my 2p….

At m-way speeds the engine is only slightly above idle speed so it will run for ever as a long distance mile muncher. Short urban trips will be much more life limiting on a DPF diesel. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Likely me just over-worrying! Thank you all, considering the mileage I think I'll go for 6 monthly oil changes now.

I think you are better off with a car that has covered the correct mileage or higher? then with a car that has low milage city work only?
I have just got myself a little runaround and hate driving it Big Cry The main reason for getting the run around is my car was not getting up to temperature for regen which is not good for the car?
