centre console switch

A silly question but I have a switch inside the centre console next to the USB and lighter sockets, they work which ever way the switch is set.
Does anyone know what its for ?

Have a look around the front grill and see if there is a radar jammer. Mine had one when I bought it. The fines are stiff for them so I whipped it and all the wiring out pronto.

Land Rover Christchurch has had the police turn up and inspect / dismantle cars while they are being serviced on cars they suspect to have jammers installed.

That’s not factory fitted, but looks tidy. As Stan says, need to follow the wires.

Interesting to hear where it goes.

Looks like it joins harness and goes forward into dash. Not sure I want to take that apart to have a look

The side panels near the climate controls pop off easy enough, so you can see the front of the centre console, but as you say, bit of a big job to go further….

Solved

The switch cuts out the radio and connects an IPOD cable in the console to the Entertainment system. This does explain why sometimes my car used to start the radio and then go quiet, you had to then select the other radio input to get the radio working, the switch was obviously on when this happened.

I assume the standard fit is a USB and IPOD socket in centre console, mine also has an IPOD cable thats wired into the car that is underneath the other sockets. I had assumed that was a standard fit but obviously not. Not sure why you would want this, I haven't got the original IPOD cable so can't check if the IPOD socket works.
The only reason I can think of why you would want to do this is to connect an IPOD at the same time as an IPhone?

Anyway I think I will leave as is and only remove if the hifi plays up.
