Here is the 1st run up. We removed the plugs and fuel pressure relay and cranked it to get the oil pressure up refitted and turned the key.

No vanos rattle all good on the test drive engine silent pulls like a train, iv been driving the wifes D3 the last few weeks so good to have my V8 back. Once the engine cover went on it purrs .

I had planned to redo my headlining at some point but it got put on hold its needs recovering so to make sure iv got a good colour match I aim to recover the A B and C pillars at the same time to freshen it all up inside |

Just to report all has been good with the rebuild no real issues except a slight vanos rattle on cold start up did some one ask why I didn't reseal them when it was apart.

The timing tool kit was an ebay special loads on there, I didn't buy the cheapest but turns out there all the same. The deep socket to remove the vanos solinoid didn't fit so needed machining until it did. None seem to come with the locking clamps that hold the cam locking tools in place but it didn't cause a problem. |
