why did the heads need to be removed RR 2005 4.4 petrol
Any spelling mistakes are the fault of spellchecker
Previous MG J2, CITROEN light 15 x 2 gone unfortunately

It lives

Here is the 1st run up. We removed the plugs and fuel pressure relay and cranked it to get the oil pressure up refitted and turned the key.

Sounds good still sounds like a little vanos rattle why didn’t you do that while you were there? Current stable:

No vanos rattle all good on the test drive engine silent pulls like a train, iv been driving the wifes D3 the last few weeks so good to have my V8 back. Once the engine cover went on it purrs .

Got a few test drives to do gonna drop the oil and filter after 100 miles check the coolant level then finally get round to doing my headlining, A ,B and C pillar recover.

I had planned to redo my headlining at some point but it got put on hold its needs recovering so to make sure iv got a good colour match I aim to recover the A B and C pillars at the same time to freshen it all up inside

Just to report all has been good with the rebuild no real issues except a slight vanos rattle on cold start up Whistle did some one ask why I didn't reseal them when it was apart.

The new crank shaft oil seal is also weeping so the plan is to replace that and pull the vanos off and replace the seals, only the drivers side has the rattle at the moment, my question is....do I honestly need the pressing tool iv read so much about or can I just replace the seals and refit ??.

The timing tool kit was an ebay special loads on there, I didn't buy the cheapest but turns out there all the same. The deep socket to remove the vanos solinoid didn't fit so needed machining until it did. None seem to come with the locking clamps that hold the cam locking tools in place but it didn't cause a problem.
