When turbos fail it's usually white smoke from burnt oil, not sure but I expect you have a cross over in the exhaust so you will get smoke out of both pipes...

That would make sense. Fingers crossed 🤞. They can’t look at it till Tuesday, I love this car and really hope it isn’t completely shagged! |

When one turbo fails the loss of oil pressure due to the oil flow past the failed turbo seal can cause the ‘good’ turbo to also fail (according to my local indy (Keith Gott, Alton) - learned that when my TDV8 died, due to turbo failure. Plus the possibility of the engine hydro-locking on its oil into the induction system. So fingers crossed for yours, but be prepared for a range of outcomes.

The 4.4 TDV8 runs 'sequential' turbos where the second turbo doesn't come out to play until 2500-2700rpm are reached. In everyday driving it'll be unusual to use the second turbo. When I first had mine, I gave her a little 'welly' one day up to near 3000rpm & got the dreaded 'Restricted Performance'....cut a long story short, second turbo acutator was oil/gummed up through lack of use, all cleaned & running sweet. Just 'power up' to 2800rpm every now & again to get the second turbo running & she's sweet as a nut!

I had the secondary turbo on my 4.4 replaced as original one was weeping oil excessively

Hi Fox, I’m near needham market. I’ve just taken it to my local as they have been so good with me recently. Mansfield 4x4 couldn’t even look at it until the end of August. |

I may give them a call today to get a price. It’s definitely turbo, I’ve removed the lower intercooler turbo hoses and plenty of oil there!

Turbo's are a little out of my depth if I'm honest.
