MOST bus help

Hey

After an incident with ‘someone’ leaving the sunroof open during what can only be described as a biblical rain shower, water has gotten in to my 2011 L322 and caused issues with my infotainment system. It has all went to the default position of the Range Rover sign on my screen with the flashing power light.

I’ve opened up my centre console in the hope of finding the portable audio interface module, thinking that this is where the water would have caused an issue, however it was not to be found. Therefore I’m hoping someone on here can help.

Does anyone know where this module is situated and how it’s powered, what fuse etc?

Presumably any module on the MOST bus that loses power will break the ring, is this correct?

Screen appears to be fine, will come to life with secret code etc, everything at the back is well out of the way so I assume the portable audio interface has either failed or lost power to break the ring.

Really grateful for any help, having no music is driving me crazy!

Laura

Insides are fine, I sucked out my seats with a vax and carpets were protected with rubber mats.

No RSE.

Thanks,

Weird, there isn't very much in the console, think I'd start with leaving the engine running for an hour with the heater on full blast and the windows cracked open 1/2 inch, this should dry out what's left...

Check all the fuses for the ICE system, there are multiple...

If no luck you need something like the Gap IID tool or similar specific diagnostic unit to see if there are any ICE faults...

Guessing with issues like this can cost a lot of money.. Thumbs Up Pete

All modules in the MOST ring

The light signals are sent in one direction only and are formed in the following way:
Electrical signals are converted into an electrical current
The current then drives a light emitting diode (LED) in the FOT to produce a high intensity red light
The LED transmits the light through a fibre optic cable
A photo diode in the FOT at the opposite end of the fibre optic cable detects the light.
The following components are connected to the MOST ring:
Integrated Head Unit (IHU)
Touch Screen Display (TSD)
SDARS receiver (NAS and Canada only)
Digital radio module (DAB and SDARS/HD (NAS and Canada only)
TV tuner
Audio amplifier
Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) module
Telephone module
Portable audio interface module
CD autochanger.
The IHU is the timing master for the MOST system. The IHU controls and manages the MOST ring and the system
components. It is also responsible for the MOST security system. Each component in the MOST ring has a unique serial
number. The component serial number is stored in a registry file in the instrument cluster. If any component serial number is
not recognized, the entire audio system will not function.
A replaced component requires its serial number to be programmed in the instrument cluster registry using Land Rover
approved diagnostic equipment. If the instrument cluster is replaced, the complete system will not function until the
instrument cluster is programmed with the component serial numbers using Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment.
MOST Diagnostics
A light box is used to diagnose the MOST system. The light box emits a visible, high intensity red light which can be connected
into the ring at any point to test the ring integrity. The light box is used in conjunction with Land Rover approved diagnostic
equipment.
Disconnecting a MOST connector will reveal if the high intensity red light is visible. Do not view the red light directly. If a
break occurs in the MOST ring fault codes are stored in the IHU which can be retrieved using Land Rover approved diagnostic
equipment.
CENTRAL JUNCTION BOX (CJB) GATEWAY FUNCTION
The CJB (central junction box) incorporates a gateway function. The gateway function is the link between the vehicle bus
systems and the audio system MOST ring. When the vehicle is unlocked, the CJB receives a system 'wake-up' message on the
controller area network (CAN) bus. This message is then passed to the integrated head unit (IHU) which then 'wakes-up' the
MOST ring components by energizing the infotainment relay. Pete

Hi

Thanks so much for all your help and info.

Just plugged the Gap IID in, showed up fault code U2003-31 fibre optic bus no signal.
When I cleared it, it was still the same but the fault didn’t come back.

Done around a thousand or so miles since the incident with blowers on so should be pretty dried out by now I’m hoping.
Presume I’ll still need to find the portable audio interface still, so from the diagrams you’ve sent it looks like it may be under the passenger seat. Can’t see anything without taking it out so that’s probably my next step.

Thanks again.

IIRC Portable audio interface is under the passenger seat, undo front and rear seat bolts and you can tip it back to get underneath, they are super heavy so best not to remove if you don't have to... Thumbs Up Pete

Hi,

You were absolutely spot on, pulled out the seat and found it under there. All checked out fine, MOST ring was all ok under there, no sign of damp or moisture.
Traced it back and found that the tv tuner in the boot was the offending item causing the ring to shut down.

By passed with a bic pen for now and the screen came back to life as normal. However the audio still wasn’t working so done a battery reset and it’s all good now.

Strange that the unit which failed was far away from any threat of water, but got there in the end.

Thanks again for your help.

Glad you got it sorted, and remember, it's a Range Rover so anything is possible.... Thumbs Up Pete

I'm trying to track down my issue with blank head unit/orange light blinking. I know the Bluetooth is shot, but the read infrared light does not show up all the time (it occiasionaly will, but not always). I have a MOST Bypass for the BT on the way, but it seems the problem comes from the piece prior to the bluetooth Module, is that the Rear Seat Enertaiment? It's below the Bluetooth module? I have a 2011 RR HSE Lux. Thank you!
