MOT Time

Thought and hoped it would sail thru the MOT but one of the tyres had a slice through the sidewall to the cord below. I guess it was dangerous to have driven on it for 15,000 miles but at least I got my monies worth as it was 2nd hand when I bought it (came with the alloys).

So all in, one new Goodyear and the MOT came to £230. Ouch.

Mind you, it's the first brand new tyre I've bought in about 6 years so I got off lightly. Discovery 4 HSE

Mine's in on Thursday. I just had to buy two new tyres. £55 each plus £10 for fitting & disposal.

I hate MOT time!

They had a tyre in, I didn't get a re-test fee and I needed it done ASAP.

I know, but factor in delivery costs, fitting & balancing costs, MOT Re test fee, taxi fares to take me home and back and that £90 becomes about £40 at best.

I'm off to Europe next week and needed it done quickly, plus haven't got a day next week I can fit it in. Sometimes, you just have to go with convenient!

Also, the fact that my 19" alloys and tyres only cost me £150 in the end means the tyre that was scrapped had an almost zero value to start with, so paying a little more this time didn't hurt.

I think I am hitting that time in the vehicle's life where small bills keep cropping up as it gets older in the tooth such as the odd tyre, brake pads, discs etc. Discovery 4 HSE

The cheek - so - let me get this straight... They're going to bill you for a software update that isn't guaranteed to do the trick...

What is it with these people? I'm in the same boat, as are a lot of FFRR owners I suspect: not getting the full use from their bluetooth phone integration. I have also found out recently that the LR ipod connectivity unit is not compatible with my touch screen AV system... Apparently there must not be the demand to provide one!!! Have you ever heard such f Censored g drivel??? Evil or Very Mad

When I got my RR I didn't have bluetooth so looked into getting a Nokia to make use of the pre-installed kit. However, the Nokia cradle was @125 at the dealer, the phone was another £100 on the net so I decided to do without the full functionality and bought a cheap new Motorola LZ with bluetooth (£27) and use that, as I only really needed it to receive calls as opposed to make them. Worked first time and does the job. I still use my Nokia in my other car though, its an older phone but still prefer 'em over other makes. Steve
