Higher weight capacity jacks will give you a better safety factor. The higher rated jacks are generally physically larger and have a higher lift ( Distance wise ) which is bloody handy when dealing with a FFRR.

I've got an sgs high lift 3 tonne one and some of their large axle stands. Yes you don't need a 3 tonne Jack but it's still not light to lift even with the 3 tonne Jack and there is huge suspension travel so for me I wouldn't use anything less. Current 2007 TDV8 Vogue Buckingham Blue |

I have an Omega 29024-PU jack. I bought it several years ago for the bargain price of £45 new. It's a great jack, but when it comes to the time to renew it, I'll probably go for the 3 tonne SGS one mentioned above.

Those axle stands are now on my expensive shopping list. I think the extra size is worth the expense… although out of stock at the moment. Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Another for the SGS 3T, I got a good deal with a couple of 6T axle stands, it’s the not the lightest bit of kit but does the job nice and safely. |

The 4 tonne ones will be fine. I have the 6 tonne ones and you need it up really high to start with to get them under the chassis etc to lower onto so do tend to use my 3 tonne ones more.

Hiu. I just got hold of an SGS 3 ton jack. After two lifts the rams are squeeling . Contacted SGS , told they needed some vid / pics? Just a few weeks old. Not impressed. Wont be using it again until sorted.... ----------------

I too have the SGS offering. No complaints as yet, but thus far has seen only limited use.
