XCP is getting good reviews. I will be buying that when I run out of WD40 |

Forget WD40 for anything other than cleaning or dispersing water. Plus Gas is a great penetrating fluid, do yourself a huge favour, buy it in bulk (5 litres) and get a pump spray bottle. Soak the offending items twice daily for a week before commencing work. Ive never had it fail. BMW i3 Electric Car

As for the question earlier on - 'Are there any issues with these anti seize liquids? Such as they cause problems with rubber?'

Cheers Rob, that’s a fair comment! Obvious when you know… just not when you don’t! Does the spray leave a residue that needs to be cleaned off before putting things back together? Had a quick google for this… lots of pages selling the stuff but the few pages where people talk about the stuff and it’s all good! Like you say, it’s magic!!! No real residue left, will usually evaporate off. Should replace nuts & bolts with new ones. Often ball joints come with new nuts if not, order some as cheap enough. Depends on what you are replacing as to how easy it'll be, if doing the ball joints I sprayed where these went into the hub also. used a cold chisel & worked on the tab on either side working it out evenly. Took a bit of effort but wasn't as bad as I expected. Also make sure you support the weight with axle stands. Thats sound engineering advice with one caveat, the friction encountered with used / rusty nuts, bolts and washers is totally different to new nuts, bolts and washers. I allow some leeway and make sure anti-seize compound is on the threads to save grief in the future. You have to take this into account though if youre going down this route. Soaking for a few days is a great idea, that said, they are nothing like as bad a D3/4 or RRS for seizing bolts sir |

Ive read many times you should use new nuts and bolts every time, and as they are so cheap it seems silly not to! I also had a google about the reduction of torque when using anti seize… and the suggestion I found was to reduce the torque setting by 25-30% https://blog.fcpeuro.com/6-tips-for-effective-use-of-anti-seize Does that seem right to people?
