I've found my latest purchase, a 2008 range rover vogue se. I've had lots of range rovers in the past including the newer 4.4 tdv8, but with lots of investment in business this will do nicely.

Now, my last 3.6 killed its engine when the EGR failed. I don't want this to happen again.

Therefore do you guys recommend replacing both the turbos and egrs for peace of mind. Or should I do something different?

It has 127000 miles.

If money allows yes, replace both turbos and both egr’s. Otherwise it’s a gamble.

Or blank the egr’s off

Wouldn't dream of paying out to replace fully functional turbos on the offchance that they *might* fail! If you have it, invest that money elsewhere, IF the turbos ever let go, then that is the time to replace them. 160k miles on original turbos and I have no reason to think they will need replacing any time soon.

That said. Egrs I would treat as a service item to be replaced every 80k miles or blanked off...😁

I have decided to blank the EGRs and undertake IID tool EGR Delete.

In my last RR 3.6 the EGR disintegrated and resulted in an engine require a rebuild which I ended up doing myself. I have no intention of repeating that experience!

I couldn’t believe the mechanical roughness of one of our EGR’s when we replaced them, on a low mileage car. I’d certainly consider them a maintenance item. I used to regularly check the actual vs commanded performance of them, it was clear when one was starting to misbehave so we quickly replaced both with genuine items. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I think your're right. They definitely are replacement items in my book.

However, as I'm blanking and disabling them I'm going to go with that. If I was keeping them installed I'd be replacing with new.

Got to do a few more miles in the car. Loving it.
