United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Zermatt Silver
OBD1 tool

HI
I'm new to Range Rover ownership, having just sold my 2000 Wrangler & now the owner of a 2006 L322 4.2 supercharged with 170k miles. so far so good but I would like to buy an OBD1 scanner tool for any future problems that may occur. There are so many different types & makes for sale, do any of you have a recommendation as to which one is best?

Thanks
Calvin

As dingg said. I've just bought a 2nd hand gap iid tool and i like you recently become a FF owner. They tool isn't cheap but it's well worth the money. Will pay for itself over the years in diagnosing problems and even fix some of them. There are some that come up for sale on here every now and then. I bought the last one for sale and it's a brilliant piece of kit.

I’ll fourth it, as after 12 years of owning a Full Fat and 9 years of being a member on here I’ve finally taken the plunge and bought an IID tool (sorry everyone; I never like to rush into things Rolling with laughter ) 2017 Jaguar F Pace 25t Portfolio - still part of the JLR family 😀

Get one ASAP.

Cost around the £500 brand new maybe £400 2nd hand.

Only gotta use it 10 times n you've got your money back assuming you'd pay £40 per diagnostic

Have a word with Pete Bell at BAS. They sell them and it gets round the issue of VAT and import duties if you buy direct from GAP in Canada.

Dunc. The life you have is the only one you'll get; make the most of it.

I have this, and at the moment it does everything I want, all for £45 read the specs
There are many other manufacturers, so I would do your own research before you jump in.

I would say, from my experience, that if budget is no problem go for the iidtool you wont be disappointed.

However I own an iidtool and an icarsoft 930, which do I use? yep the icarsoft its quicker as its self contained does almost everything the iidtool does in terms of diagnosis.

So far in 15 months of ownership I have not needed the iidtool, so as Kot says do your own research and select the one you like. Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged 2006

Thank you for your replies, think I'll bite the bullet & go for the iidtool for the extra stuff it can do. Even though the car budget has taken a hammering since purchase & now the o/s front air spring bag has gone pop! £440 for a pair of Arnott replacements
Loving every moment of the RR experience
