Rob - are both your bottles part used ?

Yes Alistair, both part used so weighing them at the moment is no help and they don't have gauges Sad

Hi,
you could just buy a TRUMA Gas Bottle Level checking tool.
They work great !
They just use ultrasonic beam to check level of gas bottle, by running it up the side of your bottle a little light will go from green to Red where the bottle is empty that will tell you the level very accurate !
they have them on Ebay for about $100 Aussie dollars.
Hope that helps.

The ultrasonic type is good as it tells where the liquid is (LPG ) the other type only tells how much pressure is in there?

Information: The cylinder holds LPG this is not filled to the top because the liquid requires to change to gas top part of the cylinder.
As the gas is removed (used) the liquid turns to gas and goes down the cylinder, but is replaced with gas until all the liquid has gone and only gas is left, then it runs out, it is at the same pressure until the gas runs out.

The magic happens in the cylinder, not on the little gauge outside that is pressure?

Hi,
thought it was time for a bit of Thread Resurrection Laughing

well it is that time of year for the Tintents to be coming out of storage, to add a bit more info IF the cylinder has a tare weight stamped on it you can easily add the weight of the liquid ^ Thumbs Up

but

not all suppliers stamp the tare weight (empty weight) on their cylinders and as every cylinder will vary its not an exact process Rolling Eyes

A note of safety Exclamation as already mentioned by Tinman ^ the cylinder has a liquid in it with a head of gas, there is a relief valve built into the valve that works on gas pressure, this is why you should Transport the cylinders in an Upright position if you lay them down the valve is in the liquid and it can not sense any pressure increase

Thumbs Up
