United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Baltic Blue

Pirelli Scorpion All Season aren't available in the right size for the L322 unfortunately.

The tyres on ours are 255/50/20, All Seasons only seem to be in 255/55/20.

I have 255/50/20 on mine so it that case they offer different dimensions in different countries - which seems odd.

255/50 R20 109W XL LR, PNCS, (GAN) is the full spec.

Surely you should be able to find them in UK? RR Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - 11

I looked yesterday and didn't see them, however, I stand corrected Smile

Black Circles have the All Seasons listed.

Those are the ones with foam in them, aren't they? I've heard mixed reviews about them.

I had a look at ours before it was fitted, its just a super light weight piece of foam stuck to them - nothing special but it certainly works.

I had heard some mixed reviews around the ability to repair them and was chatting to the tyre fitter about them, he said they repair allot and just cut out a piece of foam and have not had any issues.

Interesting.

Strange that the guide says the foam doesn't need to be replaced after the repair is carried out.

Very Happy maybe Black Circles had a supply issue? I know the ones I had fitted a week or so ago are definitely the right size - they were listed on Black Circles at the time, but National Tyres were much better on price... to the tune of over £100. Andrew.

Quite possibly.

National Tyres aren't listing the All Seasons today either.

Black Circles are £168 a tyre for the All Seasons delivered which is fine as I fit and balance my own tyres anyway Smile

I´ve only had mine for a year, of which I´ve run winters for 4 months, so I can´t speak to long term quality or performance.

So far tho, they´ve been excellent.

The important thing for me was to get a tyre that is quiet.

I´ve had Pirelli P Zeros before, but in all honesty I can´t say theres much difference.... RR Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - 11

A Trap

Just a quick look Blackdog, as I was surprised you said the Falkens were only £3 cheaper than Michelin’s and Pirellis, when here they are over 100€ cheaper than these brands, if that’s the case then the Michelin’s would be a bargain in the UK. Note we get our tyres online from anywhere in the EU, where ever is cheapest, so it’s not just a Spanish thing on pricing or supply (I agree the spec is definitely different where Land Rover UK allow 110-W rated tyres but here in Spain it’s 109-Y only).

The quick UK search on prices showed;

Pilot Sport SUV £230
Pirelli scorpion Zeros/P Zero/All-session/Verdes all around £185
Continental Sportcontact £210

The Azenis fk410 SUV are only £180 to £360 for a set is a big deal for most especially when there’s no compromise.

So unless there’s some great deals on Michelin’s and Pirellis that bring them down to £150 ish somewhere I can’t find, the Falkens are great value against the competition.

Again I don’t have sponsorship or a dog in the fight here but for clarity and so others can make informed choices on how to spend their hard earned money with out compromising safety, performance, stability with a quality Japanese brand who have upped their game to be competitive against Michelin Pilot Sports and beat the best from Continental and Pirellis in independent tests globally.

And for transparency, for road use if money was no object I would buy Michelin’s every time, they are by far the best manufacturer by country mile and have been leaders for years now.

Noise level is the main thing I'm looking for.

This car lives in the garage all winter on a trickle charger and only comes out when the weather is nice in the summer so winter grip and snow performance isn't really on the list of priorities for tyres.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tyres are around £220 a tyre in the UK. The Falkens 510's are £166 from MyTyres so they are a bit cheaper.

The Pirelli Scorpion Zero and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV are all 109Y, the Scorpion Zero All Season is 109W.

The Falkens are cheaper at a lot of places other than mytyres. I would suggest doing a further search and get a better deal on what ever tyre you choose.

Like you, we don’t see snow etc so priority was was mainly dry grip, stability, wet braking, quietness and fuel economy.

Yup, I did a comparison yesterday on blackcircles; although I used the fitted option and now learn that the OP fits themselves. Tyres vary so much in pricing, and it used to be the case that ordering from within the EU made a lot of sense. Most of my tyres were delivered from Germany either direct or via one of the many white label websites.

Now following Brexit that has changed the dynamics a bit regarding import and the VAT treatment.

As dhallworth mentioned originally, it is a nice weather car. So for the best experience, most luxurious and quietest experience I take that as using summer tyres of the best quality only. Mainly as there is no need for all weather, or offroad capability which is all a compromise.

Pirelly P Zero is only £149 per tyre with same day dispatch in the desired size and with JLR markings. Michelin latitude Tour HP would be the queitest rating at 71dB. But only one less than the P Zero and for £50 per tyre more. Both from camskill, but camskill for whatever reason only do the W ratings. The Y versions are about £30 more from other places.

Another, perhaps slightly more unusual choice would be Bridgestone Turanza T005 at around £189. I really like them, but only have used them on smaller cars; great economy and weather rating as well.

The new Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season is close to be the quietest of them all though at 69dB. Just piped to the crown by the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 at 68dB.

Me personally, I have the Pirelli All Season but in 22" so not really comparable. And on my 20" wheels I have Radar AT5 all terrain ones so again not comparable...

Oh and don't forget Quidco cashback Smile I saved a further 90 GBP just for using a click through link Whistle

Just fitted the Michelin Pilot Sport SUV to the car!! So much better that the Con ti Silents I had that the foam had delaminated!!

I really couldn't say much long term but the ride quality is far better and grip excellent but my tyres were "well used" and I did like them as a tyre but the whole foam malarkey puts me off any of the PNCS Pirelli ones and I wouldn't buy the Contis again either!

The foam works just fine for me with my Pirelli’s. Nice and quite and stable. No problem.

Comparing worn tyres to new ones is a bit pointless. But saying that I’m no big fan of continental. Especially not when they are wearing but not yet worn. They get so harsh.

Had any puncture repairs yet? If so I'd be surprised if yours hasnt done the same as mine as they need to cut the foam away and thats where it all goes wrong!! all smug in my new plug!

Which to be fair is to be expected, but also an exceptional circumstance. So a bit of a shocker then; when the tyre is damaged the foam doesn’t work well anymore.

Makes sense to me, and not really a reason in my opinion not to enjoy the benefits the other 99.9% of the time 👍
