I was going to go ahead and purchase the Nokia Bluetooth for my car then, noticed it already has it.

I checked the configuration on the screen and it's programmed for it but, in the infotainment menus, when I press 'Phone', it just says 'no phone fitted'.

The white cables that you have taped together form part of the fibre optic ring and should go in and out of your phone module.

That’ll be why it’s not showing on the screen. Chances are the module has packed in and thats why the cables have been looped together.

I have the original plug for those fibre optic cables however, that doesn't match the shape of the empty socket on the phone module?

That’s odd.

Those cables not being connected is the reason that your car isn’t seeing the phone though.

I’ve just fitted a 2011 onwards module to my 2007 car, from the blue plug I’ve taken a +ve and -ve feed, that’s all. The data is transferred using those 2 fibre optic cables.

Do you know what's missing where the white sticky pads are?

If your car is a Vogue SE, it’s where the DVD change would be I believe.

Weirdly, it's a Vogue but, in SE spec. The only thing it doesn't have is the rear headrest entertainment.

The CD changer is in the front upper glove box. Does that not do DVD (not that anyone would these days)?

Hi Gary, unplug the multi pin plug on your bluetooth module, looks for signs of blue corrosion on the pins... L322 2007 TDV8 3.6

If you've not got rear seat entertainment then you won't have the 6 DVD changer.

The CD changer is in the glovebox, the DVD changer is in the boot.

This was the plug on my bluetooth module. When I opened it up the insides were much, much worse.

Previously George a 2007 MY07 Java Black VSE 3.6 TDV8
Previously a 04 MY04 Defender 90

I have tested tonight and the module is dead.

I had blue on the pins and, after cleaning up and trying, there was still no sign of life.

So, aside from a replacement unit, what are my options? Were the Nokia units any good / microphone quality / compatibility with modern phones?

The Nokia one isn’t great when it comes to connecting newer phones, occasionally you need to reconnect the phone every time you get in the car.

I’ve just changed my Nokia one for a 2012 one. The call quality is much better and you get the signal strength and phone book displayed on the screen too.
