Basically, open loop is where the engine runs solely from the ECU map, when the loop closes the engine measures the mixture from the lambda sensors and adjusts the fuel accordingly, trimming the fuel map...

When cold it stays in open loop to be able to richen the mixture (old style choke)

This control is usually switched by the temp of the water in the engine so if you lower it too far the engine will never close the loop... I couldn't find any reference to the temp at which this happens on a fatty but as usual if you modify something you have to consider the ramifications...

Greece 2004 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Java Black

So, replaced the leaking hose and expansion tank cap today. Flushed the system and renewed coolant. Then did 100+ Km on the new air struts.
No leaks whatsoever.
Literally looking for excuses to drive the fatty as much as possible right now Laughing
I'm over the moon!
