was just thinking of alternator replacement for my TDV8 but we saw a oil leak from rocker cover so decided to strip some more for more room

as a result;

rocker cover gaskets replacement with new
injectors maintenance
turbos maintenance

Rear wiper had been acting up for quite some time until it finally stopped completely.
Turns out almost everything was seized inside. Cost me half a can of penetrating oil, a whole afternoon and my...manicure to take it all apart.
The white gear was an absolute nightmare to remove. As I didn't mark the positioning, it also took me a lot of trial and error to fit everything back together. But in the state it all was, no markings could survive. Fortunately no replacement parts were needed.

All sorted now...Fullfat wagging it's tail happily...

Sorted out the fluctuating temperature gauge by changing the EGR thermostat.

Also fitted my summer wheels

Mines all loaded for the weekly tip run tomorrow morning, then off too the trailer park to see if I can get the stupid led lights to work properly on the car trailer

Thought I'd check the MOT status as it is due in March ISTR? Feck me, next Thursday, March 4th all day. Don't panic.

Needs brakes mainly. Front rotors N pads. Pads were okay, rotors were shagged though, so they got replaced with MTEC grooved N drilled rotors and new matching pads from stock, not shown. They seem alright and should last as long as any other brand 3/5 years. Total cost was £110 delivered to my door, which is astounding value for money. £55 per side. TDV8 Brembo brakes really were a MUCH needed UPGRADE to those Lucas fitted to the TD6, which can only be described at best as just about, adequate with good planning and early deployment.

Brembo caught me out in the tool dept. Didn't have a drift in stock, man enough, to drift out the brake pad securing pins. Screwfix did though. £8 for a set. So the old truck now stops almost as well as it goes which is kinda handy.

Rear shocks replacement are next on the list....

Changed the power steering fluid, using the syringe out from the reservoir and top up with fresh method. I used about 2.5L of fluid but now it looks quite clean.

Rear shocks done. Was really straight forward job. Bottom mounting nut & bolt came off no bother on both sides, access to top of the shock was easy enough too from inside the car. Most difficult part of working on Reggie is getting the wheels back on they're so bloody big and heavy. All four wheels studs now torqued upto 140nm, as they've all been off in the last few days. Ready for the MOT on Sat morning. Then oil service will be due again as on 6 monthly changes.

Just been out and changed both bonnet props (old ones were getting a bit weak) and both reversing lights (offside was cracked at the mounting screw hole, both a bit manly). Won’t have to prop the bonnet up with a broom shank now, and looking forward to seeing what difference having new lamps makes. L322 TDV8 4.4 - current

I collected mine from the garage, surprised them with how much I was able to pay with the tap of my phone And somehow I was pleasantly surprise how 'small' this large bill was spanning three pages of A4 with lines of labour and parts

But my gosh it runs sweet, silent and revs like with the slightest touch. I drove there in my wife's BMW M2 Competition, so a slightly different beast being twin turbo and straight six. But so so nice to be back in my big black beast.

* Full service with all filters, plugs, 0w20 oil etc
* Refurbed the supercharger with the repair kit, all new gaskets and bolts as well.
* New bolts along the chain guides as well. No need to replace it at all.
* All new hoses, cleaned the oil cooler and new gaskets.
* New gaskets, seals and hoses towards the waterpump.
* New CV gaitors
* New rear calipers, discs, pads, hoses, and they kept them black! Well done...
* And they fixed the peeling key which was a nice little touch

She is running so smooth, sweets, a consistent shove where I thought it is good but now I can feel the difference compared to having had play in it. My gosh what a machine, it is like I am experiencing it all over again...

Anyway, now the fun games can start. Next I think she deserves some different pulleys and a little remap

Took mine out for a run after 2 weeks of sitting doing nothing (haven't had the heart to SORN it yet). Some spirited😉 driving was involved and I loved it! Previous cars:

Took it for it's MOT. Passed with no advisories. Also had a full service whilst it was there.
I do hate it when MOT testers put on needless advisories. My D3 had advisories for being "lightly corroded" underneath. It's a 16 year old car FFS it's bound to have light corrosion. If the corrosion had been serious then fine mention it.
