I would have done the same with the PCV valve but it had a 25mm approx. wiring harness over it that I couldn't move obviously held down in a way that I couldn't see so rather than do any damage I moved that device in the picture out of the way.

Just got the car back from Alan Smiths Garage who I used to catch up on my plan, as I ran out of time and also I ran out of the determination to do everything myself.

I'm going to be fitting a towbar to my car shortly (on back order from PF Jones), please can you advise where you got the stainless clips and screws from? I'd ideally like to replace mine. Thanks.

I've finally managed to get my iidtool working, but not by repairing my diagnostic socket. I have yet to get around to doing that.

Took the bluetooth module out and stripped it down to see if I could fix it. A bonus is that the module had already been upgraded by Adrian Wiggans at bluetoothexchange.co.uk. The circuit board was clearly suffering from water ingress...
