Replaced the passenger door external handle cable but what should have been a simple job took around 4 hours.
I could not part one of the connectors,
So i propped the card on the front footwell whilst I did the rest of the job.
As you can see I had already removed the airbag and the rubber membrane to get access. The top cable connector on the handle was broken and easily removed, but the bottom one was seriously rusted in place
I ended up using a drift and hammer to release the cable.
The new cable was simple to replace but needed a firm squeeze with pliers to get the it mounted on the rusty bracket.
I then replaced the membrane ensuring that all cables were installed correctly, it was then that I discovered that I hadn't broken any door card clips (which I expected to do after the videos I had watched) but 3 of these clips mounting plates had parted company with the door card. These I glued back in place with an epoxy glue.
Refitted the card and found the something had moved as the screw behind the door handle would not screw into any thing, so that now lives in the door pocket until the next time I remove the door card.
So all in all I spent at least 4 hours on the door, so yet again other jobs are delayed.
Looking forward to the next challenge.
