scared now lol,

Is there any pics or vids showing how to remove this light console?

I understand there is 2 x nuts under the sunglasses holder and then do you just pop the entire thing out from its clips? Or do you take the centre light panel out 1st and then the rest of it?

Also ive been wondering how does one manage to feed the new wire from the A pillar to the centre roof console? Do you have to remove headlining or can you just push it across?

Thanks

Daz

It’s not as bad as I’m making it sound, I can’t remember the details but following the excellent write up on here I found it very straightforward

Looking for tips guys please.

I'm in the process of fitting mine and have finished the wiring side, but can't get the ruddy steps to deploy so I can bolt them up!
They do nothing. The button does nothing. Hooked up my snap-on scanner and it sees the control unit, but it keeps logging a fault saying 'Invalid data from Dynamic Control thingy'. Possibly not verbatim ahem, but there appears to be a problem with the car nevertheless.

Ideas?

You can fit the brackets without the step treads on

As for non operation I'd double check all connections Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Indeed I fitted mine with them retracted and with the steps still in place. The awkwardness was on the drivers side, but because of the cylinder in the way of getting a spanner on the bolt heads not the steps themselves.

So you can fit them...but that doesn't help you make them work though...no idea on that, mine just worked when I plugged them in after I fitted them. Mike - MPx

Yes I shall endeavour to fit without deploying - don't really have much choice atm.

Connections were all redone. I can talk to the controller module it seems, it just doesn't do anything. I maybe switched it 'off' in the initial faff, so I'll try mucking about with it and see if it comes to life...

It would seem most likely that they are switched off indeed! Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

When my old steps weren't working, they gave every sign of being "dead" rather than just switched off as the light on the switch didn't flash when doing the on or off routine. For some reason (and before I swapped to the new steps) the switch suddenly did work and do its two or three flashes as it says it will in the book - but this was after a dozen or more attempts over several days. I've no idea what changed, but they work now and I can switch on or off at will. If your telltale flashes its a different problem, but if not, keep trying! Mike - MPx

Okay so they are now fitted and working perfectly. They were 'switched off'. Following the manual (RTFM) I was able to switch them on first attempt Rolling Eyes

It was just a simple matter of physically fitting the steps. Once I had removed the 3 previously sheared bolts that is...

Well done! I'm guessing you no longer want my old steps? I did measure up the parcel eventually Rolling Eyes - 180x50x30 at its widest points and something over 31kg weight. Thumbs Up Mike - MPx

Yeah after I looked up the price of the harness and control module, it was only a wee bit dearer just to get a brand new set so just went for it. £390 delivered for a genuine set Thumbs Up

They certainly are rather heavy. Thanks for measuring them up though.

Hi, James, I fitted some on mine two weeks ago?

Hard to find as they are no longer available from JLR Big Cry

I found new steps, on the bay of E but with no harness or module, these are still available from JLR

In total I spent under £450 on new deployable steps.
