I think the small print get out clause is there for a very good reason "Actual effects and benefits may vary according to vehicle type, driving conditions and driving style." BMW i3 Electric Car

Someone should do an identical bench test comparison.

Disclaimers don’t get you off the hook. Just like clauses in terms and condition contrary to super rights don’t provide a waiver for those rights.

Shocked What did I start!

As others have said some strong views, my only
Comment is Range Rovers and Africa etc, run on anything - not going to try that on my 4.4, these engines are a hell of a long way from a VM or 2/300tdi - for me in a good way

The base fuel is all essentially the same (given it all meets the same standard and is only refined in a handful of locations), it’s about the additives added afterwards.

^ That’s my understanding of it. The question is do these additives make a difference?
I can’t prove it, but I think I get a tad more mpg on regular Shell diesel than I do on supermarket diesel.

Wouldn’t fancy running a 4.4 in Africa. The sulphur levels in African fuels can be much higher which can clog DPFs more quickly. It’s one of the reasons some country’s fatties are specced less a DPF filter.

My wife’s car is listed for 98ron, but I do wonder with all of the lock downs how much that stuff now sits in the tanks compared to standard 95....
